Chunky Plaque Belt The perfect belt for your late 14th century rig is here. This belt is designed after the opulent, thick plaque belts worn by knights of the late 14th century, but with the lightness preferred for modern-day foot combat. The brass plaques are about 1-5/8 inches square and are designed to be slid onto a 1-1/2 inch leather belt blank. This makes the belt easy to assemble and disassemble for maintenance and to alter the length for use over armor or civilian dress. The plaques are made from brass sheeting, which means the belt is a lot lighter than it looks. Yes, the plaques could be dented, but you can replace them for about the cost of a bacon cheeseburger. Pricing: Belt Blank and Hook Kit: $20.00; Plaques: $7.00 a piece.
Squire Edward Hartwell modeling the belt:
Quatrafoil Plaque Belt This belt is inspired by various knightly effigies of the late 14th century. The plaques are 1 5/8 inches square. These also look nice spaced out along a belt with 1/2 plaque space or one whole plaque space between them. Pricing: $10.00 per plaque
How to assemble your Plaque Belt: Step 1: Figure out which end of belt will be the clasp end and attach the clasp to backside of belt Step 2: Install first plaque* NOTE: THE FIRST PLAQUE NEED ONLY BE LIGHTLY SECURED Step 3: Slide on plaques to desired belt length NOTE: IT IS PREFERABLE TO LET REMAINING PLAQUES “FLOAT” ALONG THE BELT Step 4: Punch hole just past last plaque NOTE: LEAVE TAIL TO ADD OR REMOVE PLAQUES TO MAKE BELT ADJUSTABLE IN LENGTH
WHEN BELT IS ASSEMBLED AND BEING WORN, THIS COMPLETES A CIRCLE AND THEREFORE THE PLAQUES CANNOT FALL OFF THE BELT
